She left a note for me with a heartwarming message about my research, along with her phone number so that I could text her anytime I need help. Arrgh mahn! What a beautiful soul. It’s incredible to encounter people who pour themselves into their work and genuinely care about offering meaningful support.

And I meant it. How lucky am I to witness the changing of the guard, from old South Africa to new South Africa. He is writing about masculinity. So beautiful.

Just wow

Wow

Dr Olutunmise Ojo

I edited and reorganised a chapter in super-quick time. : )
Also, I edited a paper of his many many many years ago on scaffolding students. It made a deep impression.

We walked together

You’re beyond incredible. This is some record time. And, by explicitly stating male bodies and female bodies instead of males and females, I think you have the answer to a current dilemma in sports reporting and screening (e.g., upcoming Olympics) ………  Magnificently spotted. Thank you.

Dr Jeannette Ziady

It’s been an honour that I could walk with you through your whole doctoral journey. You have taught me so much about the ins and outs of all the programs you touched. And been so responsive to what I can offer. And, your resilience in the face of the largest most detailed doctorate I have seen is so enviable, coupled with the way you treat people is so warm, helpful, and negotiated. I thank you for the so-many lessons.

( I can’t really send her this gushy note, but these words have been exchanged in other ways.)

Scaffolding matters

I would like to sincerely thank you for all your assistance and support. Your help has made a significant difference, and I truly appreciate the time, effort, and patience you’ve shown throughout.

It’s been a pleasure working with you, and I’m grateful for your willingness to go the extra mile.

Kind regards,
Naledi Mosifana

And students, who always astonish me

I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for everything. Your edits truly go a very long way, they always elevate the work and bring such clarity and precision. I really appreciate the time, thought, and care you put into every suggestion. Thanks again for your support. It means a lot. Warm regards, Naledi.

Your consideration means so much to me. I do love my work and the specific aspect I love is that I am given the freedom to do my best work, and that a ‘development grant’ pays me. ‘Development’ means I can do what I love which is having a chance to be part of making you and others amazing. There are so many people like you who need real attention and care to honor the difficulties they face in their work. Thanks, Tanya.

When students become lecturers they help their students

I hope you are doing well. I wanted to thank you for attending the Advanced Jewellery Theory session. Your expertise and editorial tips on the language used were invaluable. As facilitators of learning, we often find ourselves short-handed in many areas, and I genuinely appreciate contributions from people like you. Thank you for your time, and I hope the students will benefit from your expertise moving forward.

Part-time lecturers

Thank you for engaging so much during the seminar, which always means that the students sit up and listen because they know you are finding it useful. That nuanced guidance is so valuable.

In-industry business expert

Really impressed with the feedback and the amount of work put into the review. I feel like I have a solid direction of what needs to be done (stuff not even picked up by my supervisor.

I was so impressed with the readability you managed to achieve with such a pile of nuanced variables. Very readable!
